CALUMET TOWNSHIP | Lake Ridge Schools is hitting the financial books to see how much money it would take to bring Calumet High School juniors and seniors into the New Tech fold.Officials at a public hearing at 6 tonight will discuss a proposal to apply for a second loan of almost $2 million from the Indiana Common School Fund. The money would be used to remodel Calumet and buy computers, other equipment and furniture. The loan’s interest rate would be 4 percent, and it would need to be paid back over 20 years.During a Calumet High open house last month, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett applauded the district’s plans to expand New Tech beyond the freshman and sophomore levels.
