The Daytona Beach News-Journali3 New Tech Academy teacher Courtney VandeBunte has been named the Best In Network educator for the “Prosthetics for Paws” project she and her Anatomy of Design students worked on.The recognition was made by the New Tech Network, which is comprised of 175 schools in 28 states and Australia.The purpose of the project was to outfit Champ, a three-legged German shepherd, with a prosthetic created on a 3-D printer.VandeBunte submitted a video of the project to New Tech Network. It was reviewed by a 15-person committee.The recognition is given to an educator who “exemplifies the goal of a seamless blending of active exploration, application and authenticity with academic rigor that is thoughtful both in learning and assessment practices,”  according to the New Tech Network.The project was funded by a $5,000 grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation through the Flagler County Education Foundation.VandeBunte and her students have been invited to show off their project at the New Tech Annual Conference, July 11-14 in Orlando.
