Dozens of educators from across the state came to Tech Valley High School in East Greenbush on Thursday to talk about education reform and teaching 21st century skills.The summit looked at the Tech Valley High School/New Tech Network approach to education and how that approach incorporates project-based learning into teaching 21st century skills. TVHS, a regional public high school, is one about 80 schools in the New Tech Network and the only school of its kind in New York Statem, says communication’s coordinator, Mike McCagg.The New Tech Network summit at Tech Valley High, hosted by TVHS, Capital Region BOCES and Questar III, drew teachers and administrators from more than 16 schools in an area that stretches from Long Island to Rochester, McCagg told WNYT. Local educators taking part were representatives of the Saratoga Springs, Coxsackie-Athens, Ballston Spa High School, Hudson Falls, Gilboa-Cronesville, Cairo-Durham schools.While some school officials were on hand to learn all about project-based learningand teaching 21st century skills, others said they attended to look at different waysof doing both.
